What do I need to send to order lamacoids?

Six details for every plate: the wording, the size, the colours, the quantity, the mounting and the delivery. With those, a quote comes back without a round of questions.

DetailExample
Wording, with line breaksPANEL LP-2A / FED FROM MDP-1
Width and height, with units1" × 3", or 25 × 76 mm
Colours, background firstBlack / white
Quantity14 plates, all different wording
MountingAdhesive back, or two 1/8" holes on 2-1/2" centres, or both
Delivery and dateSite address in Mississauga, needed Thursday

If the drawing gives a minimum character height, include it. If a plate goes outside or into a washdown area, say so.

How should I write the wording?

Exactly as it should read, one plate per line, with the line breaks shown. Use the equipment names from the single line and the schedules. If the spec gives the wording, copy it word for word. A slash or a new cell works for a line break.

  • Put the equipment name on line one, details such as voltage or fed-from underneath.
  • Capitals read cleanly at small sizes.
  • Keep the same format for every tag of the same kind.
  • French wording and accents are fine.

Can I order lamacoids from a spreadsheet?

Yes. A spreadsheet with one row per plate is the fastest thing to quote. The builder's bulk order reads .xlsx, .xls and .csv files in whatever layout they are in, works out which column is the text, size, colour and quantity, and shows you everything before it is added. Or attach the spreadsheet to an email.

How do I order in the Lamacoid Builder?

Type the wording, pick a size and colours, choose the finish, then add the plate to your order. The preview is drawn at actual size, so you see the tag as it will be cut.

  1. Text. Type the wording; Enter adds a line. Pick a font and an optional logo.
  2. Size. Set a letter height and the plate grows to fit, or pick a plate size and the letters grow to fill it.
  3. Colour. Choose the plate colour, then the letter colour.
  4. Finish. Adhesive back, screw holes (two or four), and a bevelled edge if you want one.
  5. Order. Add it with a quantity and your own reference, set delivery or pickup, then press "Create quote & send proofs".

Nothing is charged online. You get the quote and a PDF proof by email. Open the Lamacoid Builder →

What if I am replacing existing tags?

Send a straight-on photo and the measurements of the old plate, including hole diameter and centres. Say what has to match, such as colour, thickness or text height, and what needs updating. The photo shows appearance; the dimensions make sure it fits.

What happens after I send the order?

Jake sends back a line-item quote and a PDF proof. Approve the proof and the plates are engraved the same day for typical jobs, then shipped by Canada Post or courier, or held for pickup in Burlington. See turnaround for the detail.

More questions

Do I need to know the exact size?

It helps, but it is not required. Give the space available or the letter height you need and the plate can be sized from that. 1" × 3" is the most common lamacoid size.

Can I order a single tag?

Yes. There is no minimum order, and single replacement tags are routine.
