Llamacoids makes custom engraved lamacoids (also spelled lamicoids) for electrical panels, switchgear, MCCs, breakers, equipment and warning identification. Two-colour phenolic plates, engraved through the surface layer so the lettering cannot peel, fade or rub off.
What a lamacoid is
A lamacoid is a rigid, layered plastic plate with a coloured surface over a contrasting core. Engraving cuts through the surface so the core colour forms the letters. There is no ink and no printed film, which is why electrical inspectors and plant maintenance teams accept engraved lamacoids where a printed sticker is not permanent enough.
The word started as a trade name and became the generic Canadian term; you will see it written lamacoid, lamicoid and occasionally limacoid. They all describe the same product. For the material and terminology detail, read what is a lamacoid?
Our default material is phenolic unless the application calls for something else. If your specification names a particular substrate, thickness or supplier grade, send it with the order and we will confirm before engraving.
Stock colours
Colour is written background first, lettering second. These four combinations are stocked; other combinations, including yellow/black caution plates, are quoted on request.
Black / white
General electrical ID: panel names, breaker tags, MCC buckets.
Red / white
Danger and code-mandated plates, including CEC Section 64 solar disconnects. Standard and ultimate grade.
Carbon / white
Darker, textured look for switchgear nameplates and premium equipment ID.
White / blue
Clean contrast on light enclosures; often used for mechanical and water systems.
Sizes and pricing
Every plate is cut to the size you specify. Pricing is by plate area, before tax, shipping and any specification-dependent adjustments. Volume tiers apply at 25, 50 and 100 pieces.

Mounting
Adhesive backing
Peel-and-stick backing for smooth, flat enclosure doors and equipment housings. Quickest to install; specify it for indoor panels.
Screw holes
Drilled to your hole diameter and position for screws or rivets. The right choice where heat, vibration, moisture or cleaning chemicals would defeat an adhesive.
Both
Adhesive backing plus drilled holes, so the installer can choose on site. Common on panel schedules that mix new enclosures and retrofits.

How to order
List each plate
Wording with the line breaks you want, width and height, colours (background then lettering), quantity and mounting. A spreadsheet or panel schedule is ideal; a marked-up drawing or photo of the existing tag also works.
Send it
Email the list to sales@llamacoids.ca, or configure single plates in the builder. Include the delivery address and the date you need the tags.
Confirm the quote
Jake returns a line-item quote. Anything ambiguous, such as a hole position or an abbreviation, gets a question rather than a guess.
Engraving and shipping
Standard turnaround is 1–3 business days. Plates ship by courier from Burlington, Ontario, Canada-wide.

Lamacoid questions
Is a lamacoid the same as a lamicoid?
Yes. Lamacoid, lamicoid and limacoid are three spellings of the same engraved phenolic identification tag. Whichever spelling your drawing uses, the product and the price are the same.
How much does a lamacoid cost?
Every plate is priced by its area, so a small breaker tag costs a fraction of a large panel plate. Final pricing depends on the specification and quantity, before tax and shipping. Volume pricing applies at 25, 50 and 100 pieces. Price a tag in the builder or send your list for a quote.
How fast can I get engraved lamacoids?
Standard turnaround is 1 to 3 business days for typical jobs. Rush timing is available on request; send your required date with the order so it can be confirmed up front.
What information do I need to send?
For each plate: the exact wording and line breaks, width and height, background and lettering colours, quantity, and mounting (adhesive backing, screw holes, or both). Include your delivery location. A spreadsheet, a panel schedule or a marked-up drawing all work.
Do you ship outside the Burlington area?
Yes. Lamacoids ship Canada-wide by courier from Burlington, Ontario. Most orders from the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton and the rest of southern Ontario are quoted with shipping included in the estimate.
