Custom engraved lamacoid labels with adhesive backing for equipment housings, enclosure doors, control panels and anywhere a flush, permanent identifier is needed. Engraved through the surface layer, so the lettering outlasts any printed label on the same panel.
Label or tag? The mounting decides
A lamacoid label and a lamacoid tag are the same two-colour phenolic plate. The difference is how it goes on. Labels are ordered with adhesive backing and mount flush to a flat surface. Tags are drilled for screws, rivets or a hanging chain. If you are not sure which the site needs, order both on the same plate: adhesive backing plus drilled holes gives the installer the choice.
Adhesive-backed label
No holes. Peel and press onto a clean, smooth enclosure or equipment surface. Fastest install for indoor panels and machine fronts.
Drilled tag
Holes at your diameter and spacing for screws or rivets. Choose this for heat, vibration, outdoor exposure or wash-down areas.
Where engraved labels earn their keep
- Equipment fronts. Drive, starter and controller IDs on machine housings where a printed label would scuff off within a year.
- Enclosure doors. Panel names and source-of-supply notes on the outside of the door, matching the breaker and panel tags inside.
- Control panel faces. Device and instrument labels beside legend plates, engraved in the same colour scheme so the whole panel reads consistently.
- Racks and cabinets. Cabinet and equipment identifiers in server rooms and telecom closets, sized to fit rail spacing.
- Retrofit identification. Adding an engraved label to existing gear is often the quickest way to satisfy an inspector's request for permanent identification without drilling into a live enclosure.
Sizes and pricing
Labels are priced like every lamacoid: by area in square inches, before tax, shipping and any specification-dependent adjustments. Small sizes add up quickly, so volume tiers at 25, 50 and 100 pieces matter on label runs.

Text is engraved as large as the plate allows. If a label must match an existing text height, say so and we will size the plate around it.
Colours
Stocked combinations are black/white, red/white, carbon/white and white/blue, written background first. Black/white is the default for equipment identification; red/white is reserved for danger and code-mandated plates such as solar PV disconnects and arc flash warnings. Other combinations are quoted on request.

- List each label: wording and line breaks, width and height, colour, quantity, and "adhesive", "holes" or "both".
- Email the list to sales@llamacoids.ca with your delivery address and required date, or price individual labels in the Lamacoid Builder.
- Approve the line-item quote. Engraving takes 1–3 business days and labels ship by courier from Burlington, Ontario.
Lamacoid label questions
What is the difference between a lamacoid label and a lamacoid tag?
Same material, same engraving. A label is ordered with adhesive backing and no holes so it mounts flush on a flat surface; a tag is drilled for screws, rivets or a hanging chain. Many jobs mix both, and you can order a plate with adhesive and holes together.
Will an adhesive lamacoid label stay on?
On a clean, smooth, flat indoor surface such as an enclosure door, yes. For heat, vibration, outdoor exposure or surfaces that get washed down with chemicals, specify screw holes instead; the adhesive is the weak point in those conditions, not the phenolic.
What is the smallest lamacoid label you make?
Half an inch tall is a practical minimum for legible engraving with one line of text. Send the wording and the space available and we will confirm a text height that reads clearly.
How are lamacoid labels priced?
By plate area: a small ½ × 1½ inch label costs a fraction of a 1 × 3 inch equipment label, before tax and shipping. Volume pricing applies at 25, 50 and 100 pieces. Send your list for a line-item quote.
